In my previous life as a journalist I was a news editor for a number of media companies in the UK including the BBC, APTN, ITN and TF1. For the last eight years I have been a lecturer at Deakin University - teaching broadcast journalism. I am just finishing off my PhD at The University of Melbourne on the role of fixers in international news gathering. I am interested in international news gathering, 24 hour news, transnational broadcasting, international news agencies and social media.
